On the 29th of April the committee of United Nations Development Programme discussed different ways on how to increase the security of food systems and provide aid during the Yemeni civil war.

Across Yemen nutrition and necessary actions that prevent millions from starvation and disease are slowly being phased out. Considering this, the delegate of Yemen is looking to establish sustainable food systems, and requests humanitarian aid from other countries in this state of crisis.

“Yemen is in a civil war, and they don’t have the resources for food.” Because of the ongoing civil war in Yemen, Chad supports all initiatives and agrees with all plans for a joint task force to provide supplies for Yemen, and more developing countries. Switzerland is mainly neutral regarding the use of sustainable food systems during the Yemen civil war.

As another solution to the problem Iran offered to eliminate the enemy in the Yemen civil war and to help rebuild the countries infrastructure, starting from the capital. Cuba disagreed with this proposition in belief that it would bring more war. They believe a peaceful way to end the conflict in Yemen should be agreed on. “People dying in a war are more important than the lack of sustainable food systems in a time of a crisis. An attempt for food system aid can be toppled by an internal armed conflict.”

The delegate of Switzerland states that wars are caused because people are unhappy, but the delegate of Yemen disagrees, “Switzerland doesn’t really know the reasons why this conflict is happening. The war isn’t caused by being unhappy, but because of religion.”
